I have taken some photos while out with the group in a park (forgot the name) my battery died on my camera so Connor lent me his battery for a bit, I know they are blurry but they will do.

Textures used in games

Here is my research on gaming textures, I have chose to base it off a Nintendo 64 game and a Gamecube game. The textures are relatively simple in the Nintendo 64 game, which is most of the things I can make XD while the Gamecube is alot more complicated.

Now I have made a few plans on what to use for texturing my 3D city, here are a few examples of what I could come up with.

Urban Statement

I have decided that I am going to do a very simple, on edge of urban life textures. Like streets with grass and sand and ponds. A nice and simple design. I will be doing alot of these designs myself . I may have a tutorial or two online from Youtube. I will try to make all sorts of rock, brick, steel, sand and grass. Some of these will be extremely easy to do such as the steel which can take seconds to do.

I have spent some time on these textures, some are from tutorials and others are made myself. Although the molten rock texture was made from a tutorial on youtube.

Mind Map

Okay next I have done a mind map of ideas that can be used into being used in any situation. Here is what I have  done for my mind map.

Game Textures

In games, they use alot of textures which can either be very basic or very complicated. I have looked into a Legend of Zelda game for texture ideas. A good idea to spot is Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64.

Here, the grass and dirt is nice and simple patches. The walls are a simple rock texture and the trees have a more complex texture than the two I mentioned before, but still able to be done. The clothes of Link (the character in the middle) is a simple green too.

Also I have looked into Metroid Prime. The ground is a simple sandy colour but the rocks in the background are more complex this time. Also the detail on the arm cannon is extremely detailed.
